Germany awarded a contract to Rheinmetall to deliver two Skynex air defense systems to Ukraine for 182 million euros ($192 million) by December 9, 2022. The short-range system is expected to be delivered in early 2024. This will increase the defense capabilities of Ukraine.

Skynex air defense systems are very effective against drones using Automatic cannon-based system against fast-moving short-range targets such as drones.

The system’s 35mm ammunition is more economical than missiles and immune to electronic jamming via an electronic countermeasures system.

to reach the target, this system has Radar that provides aerial images to control nodes, which assign targets to autonomous effectors via the Skymaster network.

Skynex’s advanced air defense systems can simplify airspace surveillance apart from effectors. Because of this modularity, and depending on the mission, the required assets can be connected to a command-and-control network. This system allows the integration of radar equipment from various manufacturers.
