Tradewinds Exercise 2022

On May 7-21, 2022 in Belize and Mexico a joint exercise was held between the United States and 21 partner countries. The exercise is called Tradewinds 2022. The exercise is the 37th annual agenda of the Caribbean and has been conducted for the first time since 1984. Tradewinds 22 aims to improve the ability to better deal with security threats.

This exercise was funded by U.S. Southern Command. The Tradewinds 2022 exercise covers Aspects i.e. Land, Sea, Air, and Cyber focusing on the nation of the Caribbean. Participating countries exchange materials and knowledge, as well as enhance cooperation between participating countries in dealing with dangerous national threats.

Belize was set as the host for the land-based exercises, while Mexico was used as a training ground for maritime exercises. In addition, this exercise was also conducted to support the SOUTHCOM campaign plan, and to participate in humanitarian assistance in the Caribbean region.
